The great Scottish essayist and historian Thomas Carlyle married his secretary, Jane Welsh. She continue to work for him but when she got ill, Carlyle, who was deeply devoted to his work, didn't seem to notice, so he allowed her to keep working. But she had cancer and eventually she was confined to bed. Although Carlyle truly loved her, he found that he didn't have much time to stay with her or much attention to give her. Then she died. After the funeral Carlyle went up to Jane's room, noticed her diary lying on the table, picked it up and began to read. On one entire page she'd written a single line: ''Yesterday he spent an hour with me and it was like heaven: I love him so much.'' A reality he had somehow been too blind to see now revealed itself with crushing clarity. He'd been too busy to notice how much he meant to Jane. He thought of all the times he'd been preoccupied with his work and simply failed to notice her. He hadn't seen her suffering. He hadn't seen her love. Turning to the next page, he read words he'd never forget: i've listened all day to hear his steps in the hall, but now its late and i guess he wont come today. He put her diary back on the table and ran out of the house. Friends found him at the side of her grave, covered with mud. His eyes were red from weeping; he cried. After Jane's death, Carlyle made little attempt to write again. Are you neglecting your loved ones?

ABOUT CVED

The ministry for the Centre for Vocational Empowerment and Development started off, at first, as a community feeding project in February 2007. Free lunch was provided to about 300 less-privileged people every Friday. This feeding project was funded by the church.
In November 2009, we moved this community feeding project to a higher level; it became a programme known as FEEDS – Free Economic Empowerment & Development Strategy. It provides free training in particular skill areas to several people to make them economically self-reliant. Some of the training areas include event decoration and planning, screen printing, catering, textile, bead and hat making, computer appreciation and desktop publishing, adult literacy, hairdressing, home-use chemical production (such as liquid soap, stain removers, insecticides, cold water starch, disinfectants, toilet wash, body perfume, perfumed petroleum jelly, air freshener, hair cream, etc). The training holds every Friday in the church compound. Currently, about nine (9) sets have graduated from each of the 3-month training sessions. The church procures training materials and provides a stipend for the trainers/entrepreneurs as the programme is entirely free for the trainees. Certificates are awarded to all trainees in the vocational empowerment programme.
Early 2012, we reviewed our strategy for the community feeding project and introduced our Supermarket Sunday where we give out packaged raw foods to the church members, who in turn give them out to the less-privileged in the community.
Still in 2012, by the grace of God, we took the FEEDS programme to other nations in Africa. So far we have been to countries such as Liberia, Chad, Benin Republic, Niger, Togo, Sierra-Leone, Gambia, Guinea Conakry and Burkina Faso.
By the grace of God, early 2013, we now have a legal platform from which projects like FEEDS and other mission initiatives, such as School of Pastoral Nurture and Leadership here in Nigeria and all the other countries we have been to, will all operate from.
This legal platform is what is now known as the Centre for Vocational Empowerment Development (CVED). It is our firm conviction that with CVED, lives will be enriched, poverty will be alleviated, entrepreneurs will be raised and ethical leaders, who can reign in this 21st century, will be inspired!

1. Impartation of entrepreneurial skills and vocational knowledge with a view to raise, build and empower the beneficiaries, thereby touching lives!
2. To engender regional and global partnerships for human development and poverty alleviation through innovation

Health is wealth like the saying goes. Your health is superior to anything else you have. But many are times quite a number of people are unable to have sustainable health because of medical bills. 31 DAYS, 31 MINUTES A DAY, PRAYERS FOR SOULS

It is a season of the harvest of souls.

“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? Behold I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).

But it is required first that we talk to God first about the souls before we talk to them about God.

“The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers [are] few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2).

To this end there will be a thirty-one (31) days prayer for souls in the month of May. Each day there will be thirty-one (31) minutes spent in prayer for souls. Do your best to be part of this kingdom investment that will surely yield bountiful dividends. Remember also the instruction of the Lord in Zechariah 10:1:

“Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; [so] the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field”.

We need to ask God to release the rain of His Spirit for the harvest. It is time to pray for the in gathering of souls into our father’s kingdom.

It is our responsibility!

Today's Exhortation is titled : DON'T TURN AWAY- ABIDE IN GOD

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Some few days ago, my little boy came crying to me that he needs biscuits, he was indeed very Hungary, I told him I will buy him biscuits, the boy was happy, I bought the biscuits and gave him. I now told him to allow me open it and take one, the boy's countenance changed immediately, he said capital NO that he won't give me and he ran away.
This action got me puzzled up, this was a boy in need, I met his need, but he don't even care about my need.
Instantly the HOLYSPIRIT asked me, how are you treating God that meets your needs on a daily basis.
Self centeredness is a tool the devil is using today to turn our hearts away from God. If you are living for SELF, not too long, you will definitely TURN AWAY from God.
Self- centeredness makes us blind to opportunities that can better our lives.
Let us pray to God to give us the heart to be a blessing to others.
Many kings started well in the book of Chronicles in the bible, you will read that most of them did what was right in the sight of God, but not with a perfect heart, and at the end of the day they die and perish in their Sins, this will not be our portions in JESUS name Amen.
What can kill any believer is the take-out of Egypt that you refuse to kill that is still in you.
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Today we will pray to God to deliver us from our secret sins and submit our weaknesses to God, He will surely strengthen us, Amen.
Let us continually put our actions under check to ensure we are not drifting away.
Let us pray for the spirit of Self-Control and perseverance to be able to overcome the temptations around us.
Until we take a decision to ABIDE in Him, we will not discover the full purpose of creation and our level of impact will be so small.
Let us allowthe WORD OF GOD dwell richly in us. The WORD is powerful, the WORD transforms, it heals and deliver from afflictions.
When we abide in God, our lives bears good FRUITS.
Today's Exhortation is to caution us, especially now that God will give us our POSSESSIONS. Please don't ever treat GOD or His Kingdom anyhow. I pray that non of us will miss it in life in JESUS name Amen.
